Solution
The project involved installing 584 square metres of soft fall in the children’s play areas, created by Play Matta using recycled PVC. This initiative diverted up to 41,000 footballs from landfill, showcasing a significant step towards a circular economy. The play areas feature a variety of equipment for children of all ages, including swings, slides, climbing equipment, a flying fox, accessible spinner, rockers, accessible trampolines, balance beams, and water play areas.
Outcome
The project was a resounding success, with positive feedback from the site manager, Glascott Landscape and council representatives. The site manager, who had never used Play Matta before, was particularly impressed with how the tiles added ‘a soft touch’ to the harder elements of the playground. He also mentioned the positive communication and experience with the Play Matta team, noting the collaborative design process that involved constructive back-and-forth discussions. Overall, the feedback on Play Matta has been overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing the project’s success in combining sustainability with functionality and safety.
